Here’s what to expect on Sunday mornings for worship: come as you are! You will be welcomed as our guest at the front entrance by one of our greeters who is ready and willing to answer any of your questions. A typical worship service lasts about 60 to 75 minutes. There is childcare available for infants up to three years old, and there is also a special time for children during our worship service.”

Pastor Kevin VaLeu

While being raised by a single mother, a unique encounter with the Holy Spirit at the age of five in the living room set the early trajectory of his spiritual formation.

Fast forward from that salvation experience in a little unknown town of Dallas City, Illinois and 15 years of not being discipled, God put him on the “Fast Track” of being discipled by first being recruited to run Track at the University of Northern Iowa as a 400M Hurdler that would cause him to cross paths with a future church planter that showed him where the “real race for God” was at.

After earning his M.Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Pastor Kevin and his wife Tracy have ministered for over 20 years in churches in Iowa, Graham (NC), Greensboro and now New Bern (NC) in various capacities.

God has used his broken background in conjunction with not being adequately discipled to fuel a passion for One-On-One Discipleship, Small Group Discipleship, Counseling, Evangelizing the UnChurched, Reaching the Brokenhearted, Preaching Messages on Overcoming, and raising up a NextGen of “Spiritual Navy Seals” to reach Craven County and beyond (He’s big into Mission Trips!).

Kevin is a sports fanatic (yes, he plays fantasy football), loves to run, read books, jokes a lot, never met a stranger and a friend for life.

Pastor Kevin and his wife Tracy have four children and 4 granddaughters.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • The Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit, and is the infallible, inerrant Word of God.

  • The integrity of the Bible has been divinely protected through the ages.

  • In the Trinity: One God who reveals Himself as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

  • In the deity of Jesus Christ: His virgin birth, sinless life, sacrificial death on the cross as payment for sin, bodily resurrection, and His ascension to the right hand of God the Father.

  • In the forgiveness of sin only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ.

  • That salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ – He is the only way to heaven.

  • That salvation cannot be lost.

  • That Jesus Christ established two ordinances for the local church: Believer’s Baptism, and The Lord’s Supper or Communion.

  • In the Rapture of the church, when Jesus takes all true Believers to be with Him.

  • That Jesus Christ will return.
